The strike action by the Imo state university staff made up of the Academic Staff Union of
universities, non academic staff union and the senior staff association continued today.
There were high hopes that the state government will completely pay the salaries of the striking workers today and Bring the strike to an end.
However as at 3pm today, a lecturer (name withheld) who was contacted made it known that they were yet to get alerts of their payments.
The plan was that if the lecturers get paid today, they will meet on Monday 25th April and declare the strike over. However with the way things went today, the wait has to continue till next week Monday. Let's hope there was much queue in the bank today that made the government unable to make payment (just saying).
We now have to be patient till Monday to know whether the government is bringing this strike to an end or not.
So here is the conclusion of this week's wait, IMSU ASUU/NASU strike is still on today, Friday 22 April, 2016, as the government has not met the demands of the striking staff yet.
Monday will be another day to look up to the Governor Rochas Okorocha led Imo State government to bring the strike to a close. As for ASUU and NASU, they have shown they are really in need of their money and will stay at home for a decade, if that is what will make the government pay them their cash. It's aluta continua...
